HIt Points: Add your SIZ and your CON together, then divide by 5! ( PULP RULE – normally you divide by 10. Magic Points: This is equal to one fifth of your POW. Sanity Points: Your (starting) sanity points equals your POW characteristic. These will be important character qualities like characteristics, but are derived from your other stats! (Note: Again, if you’re doing this on Roll20, some of these may be calculated automatically) Once you’ve recorded all of these stats, also record (in a space right next to where you’ve been recording them- if you’re on roll20, the character sheet ought to be doing this automatically) the HALF and FIFTH values of your characteristics! These will be important numbers for hard, or extreme skill checks during game! Step 4: Get your derived Attributes! (Excluding a characteristic if it was your archetype’s core characteristic) Do that two more times, then place the numbers you’ve achieved among Size, Intelligence, and Education. Once you’ve done that, roll 2D6+6, multiply the end by 5. Do this four times, and allocate the ending values where you please among these five characteristics: Strength, Constitution, Dexterity, Appearance, and Power (Excluding the core characteristic you already rolled for). Then, Roll 3D6 and multiply the end results by 5. Use this number for the Core Characteristic you received from your Pulp Archetype. Step 3: Roll Characteristics!įirst, Roll 1D6, add 13, and multiply the result by five. Though occupations may be anything, and you can work with your DM to come up with a custom occupation, Call of Cthulhu has a few occupations to choose from! If you are working with the DM to make a custom occupation, together you’ll come up with 8 ‘occupation skills’, a Credit Rating Range, and from what statistics you’ll derive you Occupation Skill Points (Which will most commonly be Education, or a combination of Education and something else). Then, choose some Pulp Talents, within the parameters given to you by your Pulp Archetype! (click the link for a list of Talents!) Step 2: Fill in some details!įigure out some of the very basic details of your character! Name, Occupation, Sex, Age, Residence, and Birthplace! Much of this will just be flavorful, but occupation will actually matter later on! Additionally an archetype gives you bonus skill points that you may assign to a list of skills, will also tell you how many TALENTS you may pick (More on talents in a following step!). This characteristic will, later on, receive an enhancement. Pulp archetypes add a bit more of a focused concept to your character, and give you some added benefits! Each archetype has a ‘Core Characteristic’ (Or a choice between two or more – pick one!) which you should note. Rules that are specific to Pulp Cthulhu will be noted, so if you’re familiar with the usual creation process you can skip ahead and look for the new bits! Step 1: Choose a Pulp Archetype and Talents! Following is a full, step-by-step for character creation in its entirety. Making a character for Pulp Cthulhu is largely the same as making a normal character, with a few differences.
